AYANEO Shares a Sneak-Peek Real-World Photo of the Upcoming AYANEO FLIP

AYANEO shares a sneak peek real world photograph of their upcoming AYANEO FLIP device. The Indiegogo campaign is due to launch this month.

AYANEO working on a new device means it’s probably a day ending in “Y,” right? Well, this is one handheld that I’m very excited about. The AYANEO FLIP is a clamshell-style handheld that will be coming with an awesome dual-screen variation reminiscent of Nintendo’s DS system, which could have some great functionality, perhaps even for emulating the aforementioned DS system. As a little sneak peek, AYANEO has unveiled the first real-world look at this dual-screen variant on X!

I would say this is a rough-production unit, as it seemingly has no markings on the buttons, such as A/B/X/Y on the Face Buttons, but the previously released CG Renders of this device also lacked any markings too, so maybe that’s the look they’re going for.

I’m a little concerned about the analog sticks seemingly being sunken into the device’s shell. I’m sure AYANEO has tested the device, but it might be difficult to get the full range of motion out of the analog sticks when they’re that deep inside the shell. At this point, they would feel more appropriate as sliders than sticks.

Regardless of any external design concerns, we know that the AYANEO FLIP will deliver on performance. It boasts specs similar to previous high-end AYANEO devices, with an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U APU and an upper TDP limit of 28W. The top screen is a 7″ IPS panel that boasts a 1920×1080 image capable of running at 120hz, while the bottom screen is a touchscreen at half the size of the top screen at 3.5″. We also have a 46.2Wh battery to power it all.

As you can see from the images above, the AYANEO FLIP will be available in 2 variants, the DS and the KB. The DS has dual screens, whereas the KB replaces the 3.5″ bottom touchscreen with a fully functional keyboard. We’re sure both devices have their uses, and which is best for you will depend on what you plan to use the device for, but the DS variant is certainly the most unique, and I can imagine different uses for that extra screen space on a handheld.

As for the keyboard, Noah recently reviewed the AYANEO SLIDE, which features a keyboard underneath the screen. He found the keyboard to be an incredible addition to navigating Windows, which is something essential for him.

Earlier, AYANEO revealed that the Indiegogo launch would be happening towards the end of this month, so we should see a release any day now, including additional info, such as how much the device will cost and when they plan to ship the device.
