I figured that this was bound to happen sooner or later, but someone has finally did it, the Playstation Portal has officially been hacked! Shown off by Andy Nguyen, also known as @theflow0 on X, posted on X about how, after a month of work, he, with the help of xyz and X user @ZetaTwo, was able to hack the Playstation Portal and get the PSP emulator, PPSSPP, running on it.
If you find his name familiar, that is because Andy is also known as TheFlow or Total_Noob. He was a big player in the PSP and Vita hacking scene, creating tools like TN-HEN on PSPs and Adrenaline or VitaShell on the Vita. He has been working on Kernel Exploits for years, and it seems like he is back at it again!
As for the hack itself, there isn’t much information on how it was done just yet. Andy has yet to reveal most specific information, but he has mentioned that the device has 6gb of onboard storage, which isn’t a lot, but it could hold a couple of PPSSPP games or a lot of older retro ones. I would be interested to see what comes of this though, as the controller on the Playstation Portal remains unmatched.
You can currently buy a Playstation Portal over on Playstation’s website for $200, when it is in stock.
