Just yesterday, we wrote about MSI teasing a handheld release of their own, which will be announced during CES 2024 this year. Now, it seems we have another little hint at what could be powering the upcoming handheld, and it all came from a little comment from Intel’s gaming account on X.
From this comment, I would say it is safe to assume Intel’s APU will be powering the device, but it’s hard to say exactly which APU it will use. We have had a couple of devices either confirmed or rumored to use Intel internally. Emdoor is building a handheld that uses a Meteor Lake CPU, while ONE-NETBOOK’s upcoming OneXPlayer X1 is using an Intel Ultra Core 7 internally. The latter is a massive device, but the Emdoor is a handheld PC similar to others out now.
Regardless, this is an exciting development and one I am definitely interested in. It will be awesome to see how Intel’s APU bodes against the AMD APUs that we have been seeing. CES 2024 starts in 4 days, so we will be watching.
