As someone who is a fan of larger devices, the OneXPlayer X1 seems right up my alley. The massive 10.95-inch screen acts as a 3-in-1 device: A tablet, a laptop, and a handheld. There wasn’t a ton of information before, but now, we have a lot of new details on the pricing and specs, as the campaign will be launching in 3 days! So, let’s get into what makes this device so special:
Before we go into the campaign, let’s talk about the X1 itself. This device is a beast, and it has a lot of power to back it up. It’s going to need a lot of power to back up the massive screen. So, let’s talk about what it will be powered by.
The X1 is one of the first devices to utilize an Intel APU instead of an AMD one, and they are choosing a pretty powerful one! The X1 will use an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, the same APU as the upcoming MSI Claw. The Ultra 7 155H has a CPU with 16 cores and 22 threads with a 4.8GHz frequency and an Arc Graphics GPU with 8 cores. at 2.25GHz frequency. It has a TDP of 28W, 24MB of Cache, and an AI NPU/
Theoretically, this APU should be extremely capable, but it will definitely need some power to back it up. Luckily, it may seem this device will be able to supply.
One of the few things I was worried about most is the battery life, but it seems like I won’t have to worry too much. The X1 will be coming with a 65.02Wh battery, bigger than almost every device out there. The only device I know that has a bigger one is the AYANEO KUN at 75Wh. With the power the APU is going to need, it should have more than enough to supply it.
Other than the APU, the biggest draw for the X1 is easily the massive screen. This is a 10.95-inch beast, and it is a solid screen overall. The screen is 120Hz, a native resolution of 2560×1600 (1600p), and a max brightness of 540nits. It also has a nice color range of 100% of the DPI-3 gamut and 138% of the sRGB gamut. This means we will have a giant, bright, and vibrant panel to look at. For a device like this, I couldn’t ask for anything better.
With such a big device, there are bound to be a lot of options for ports, and it won’t disappoint! The X1 has two USB-C 4.0 ports, 1 USB-A 3.2, 1 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroSD card port. It also has an Oculink interface, which can be used with an external GPU like the OneXGPU or GPD G1 to increase performance even further. After seeing the benefit of an eGPU with the GPD WIN 4 and G1, it was amazing. For a larger device that could be a laptop alternative, the addition of this port is fantastic.
Even though it is on the larger side, it isn’t as heavy as I expected it to be. It is about 789g, which is less than the Legion Go with the controllers attached. The X1 also supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, and it measures around 252 x 163 x 13mm. It does use analog joysticks and has both a gyroscope and accelerometer in the controllers.
Finally, we have the price. There are going to be multiple different combinations of RAM + Storage, as well as some extra bundles that include the OneXGPU! Here are the prices:
And the bundles that include the OneXGPU are:
If you purchase within 3 days of the campaign launch, you will get a free back stand, screen protector, controllers, bag, and magnetic keyboard to go along with it! After the 3 days, you will still get the stand, screen protector, and controllers, but no bag or keyboard. These will be separate purchases too.
And there we have it! The X1 looks like it’s going to be a very unique device and I am quite curious how it will be received and used. You can follow along for updates by signing up to their Indiegogo page, and the campaign will begin in 3 days! You can also view the full spec list below.
